The Worcestershire Youth Cabinet comprises of four young people form across each of the six districts: Bromsgrove, Worcester, Malvern Hills, Wychavon, Redditch and Wyre Forest.
Councillor Liz Eyre, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to have their say about democratic issues that matter to them and their peers. It is important they have an influence and shape the services that are key to them in their district.
“Last year a record number of 39 young people were nominated to stand for election, a figure we are hoping to beat this year.”
Quote from Nat Peters, 15, Youth Cabinet Member for Bromsgrove District and Member of the UK Youth Parliament, said:
"Being on the Youth Cabinet is really important, because we get to help young people from all over Worcestershire - whether they know about it or not. We are involved in representing the views of young people when important decisions are being made. It can be hard work, but it is also lots of fun too."
Young people will be able to vote at a variety of locations between Monday 21st January and Friday 1st February 2008. The announcement of the results will be held during an event on Saturday 9th February.
