Voluntary and Community Sector Voice
For the last few months Michael Hunter, WCVYS Chairman, has been leading a project group to set up a new Voluntary and Community Sector Board for Worcestershire. The formation of a new Board represents an exciting and timely opportunity for the sector. The project group are committed to ensuring the Board provides influential and trusted leadership and builds a strong and influential voice for ALL voluntary and community organisations in Worcestershire. The project group are keen to attract individuals with a range of experiences to ensure that the group truly reflects the diversity of the sector. DO OTHERS FOLLOW WHEN YOU LEAD?
The Voices Project Group are seeking a dynamic and forward thinking individual with a passion and commitment to the voluntary and community sector (VCS) to chair and lead the newly formed Worcestershire VCS Strategic Board. This is a brand new board that will play a pivotal role in shaping the future strategic direction of the VCS in the county. As such we require someone with excellent leadership skills and vision that can lead the development of a strong and proactive board, inspire trust and confidence amongst VCS organisations in the county and establish effective relationships with other sectors and strategic partners.
In addition we are looking to recruit 12 individuals with the right skills and motivations from a broad range of VCS organisations who can support the Chairperson in developing a Strategic Board that is proactive, responsive to the needs of the sector and that can make a real difference.
Potential Board Member candidates should be active leaders of the VCS and be motivated by the desire to raise the profile and increase the influence of the sector through acting as champions and advocates and supporting the development of the sectors collective voice.
Applications are open to anyone wishing to apply and we would actively encourage applications from individuals from organisations of all sizes, including those who have not previously have been involved in this context but have experience and skills to offer. In the first instance the Board’s Chairperson will be appointed enabling them to be involved in the selection process for the other Board Members.

Completed applications need to be submitted by 5pm on Monday 27th February 2012 for the Chairperson position and by Monday 12th March at 5pm for Board member applications. Applications received after these deadlines will not be considered.
