Parent Participation Grants Programme
The AHDC parent participation grants programme has been launched.Over the period 2008 to 2010 £3 million is available through a programme of grants and support from Together for Disabled Children to help groups develop parent participation activities in each local authority area across England.
The grant is available to parent groups.
Ideally applications should be led by parents. The grant could go to an existing forum, a local support group or a voluntary organisation which will either facilitate the development of parent involvement or hold the money for use by other groups.
Grants will go to statutory services only where there is no parent group/forum able to take receipt of the money.
Local parents, parents' groups, voluntary organisations and services need to work together to decide how to spend this money. There is only one grant available for each local authority area. Applications need to demonstrate agreement between local parents, groups, relevant voluntary organisations and service providers about how parent carer participation is to be developed and how the grant will be spent.
Grants are available now. Final date for receiving applications is 21 November.
