JAR (Joint Area Review)
What is a Joint Area Review? The JAR is a joint inspection of all children’s services within a local area. It is carried out by a team of inspectors from various central government agencies including the Office for Standards in Education (OfSTED) and the Healthcare Commission (HCC). Worcestershire will be inspected under these arrangements in Summer 2008.
So what will be assessed?
Recent government legislation places a duty on local services to co-operate and to safeguard and promote the well being of children and young people. The aim of this is to produce better outcomes for children and young people by providing joined-up services for children, young people, their parents and carers.
The JAR will assess how well services are working together to improve these outcomes. In this way the JAR will provide a picture of what it is like for children and young people living in Worcestershire.
In order to keep all partners across the process regular newsletters are being published and there is a website for more information.
