Internet Safety Week 2010
9 February 2010, 15:00PM - 11 February 2010, 16:00PM
This year’s theme is “think b4 u post”. Following on from last year’s successful presentations ‘thinkuknow? Do you?’ which focussed around developing parents awareness around the use of the internet, due to popular demand we are holding a number of events during the week commencing 9th February 2010 around the use of the internet and how YOU can reduce the risks online for children and young people whilst becoming part of your child’s online world.
These sessions are a MUST for every parent, grandparent, brother, sister etc. and professionals who work with children and young people. The sessions are designed to make you “cooler” through the eyes of children. A little bit of information can be extremely powerful.
The internet is a fantastic place and is the primary means of communication for young people but just like water which has hidden dangers you need to know the safety rules to remain safe. The presentation will focus on how to use the internet safely and reduce the risks online, the power of personal information, social networking sites and following this years theme “think b4 u post” how things can come back to haunt you years later.
Everyone has a role in safeguarding children.
Internet safety is a priority for all four of West Mercia Safeguarding Boards (Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin), and by attending this event you too can become an ambassador for internet safety and make a difference.
The presentations will be presented by Detective Superintendent Martin Lakeman, Head of Public Protection for West Mercia Police and a member of all four Children”s Safeguarding Boards.
