Inter-Agency Guidance

WSCB's Inter-Agency Procedures for Safeguarding Children, which are shared with Herefordshire and Shropshire, have been updated to reflect recent developments. They are now available on WSCB's website  www.worcestershiresafeguarding.org.uk

As you will see the Procedures indicate where there has been some, in the main, minor amendments and where the Procedures are new.

New procedures include:

  • Chapter One:
    • GMC Guidance for Doctors Working with 0-18 year olds
  • Chapter Two:
    • Guidance for Safe Working Practices for Adults Working with Children and Young People
    • Guidance for Safe Working Practices for the Protection of Children and Staff in Education Settings
  • Chapter Five:
    • Persons Posing a Risk to Children: West Mercia Region Multi Agency Guidance Manual (PPRC)
  • Chapter Nine:
    • The West Mercia Protocol for the Management of Sudden and Unexpected Deaths in Infants and Children
This update has allowed for the inclusion of procedures which are specific to one local authority. These can be found in Chapter 11 and for Worcestershire include:
  • Guidance for the Voluntary and Community Sector in Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Guidance for working with parents with impaired learning
  • Safeguarding young people who use and misuse substances.
The update has aimed to strengthen the guidance for the engagement and participation of children and young people in the child protection processes and the updates in Chapter 3: Managing Individual Cases reflects this.
