Consultation on Code of Practice for Community Groups

For some months a group of workers from a variety of organisations have been working to develop a Code of Practice. This is one of four Codes linked to the Worcestershire Compact. The Compact provides a framework for the way statutory and voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations get together to provide services. It is also designed to ensure respect and equality between organisations.

Community groups are often missed out in the process of local policy and service development and delivery. This Code outlines ways of ensuring that the skills and experience of community groups add value to policy and service development and delivery, particularly at the local levels.

Please read the draft Code of Practice and circulate it within your group or to other groups if you think they may not have seen it. Please let us have your views on the document and any issues you think should also be included. Once a full consultation has taken place and alterations made it should eventually go to Worcestershire Partnership for approval.

A draft of this Code of Practice is attached.
Please let Cathy Clement at WCVYS your comments etc. by 21st September.
