Post 1: Youth Worker in Charge
12 hours per week JNC points 10-12 £19,636-£21,525 pro rata
Post 2: Assistant Youth Worker
10 hours per week JNC points 1-3 £14,143-£15,324 pro rata
Post 1: 3 x 3 hour evening sessions plus 3 hours planning/supervision time
Post 2: 3 x 3 hour evening sessions plus 1 hour planning
‘Alvechurch Communities Together’ is a new and exciting multi-agency community project for residents in Alvechurch, Hopwood and Rowney Green. In September 2010 we will move into new premises located right in the heart of the village.
Our aim is to engage the young people in our community in a positive way, and to provide facilities and activities which encourage positive behavior and a sense of pride and responsibility.
We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic Youth Workers to help us grow and develop this very special project. You will need to have experience of youth work - preferably outreach, a relevant qualification in working with young people, and be skilled at devising and implementing a broad range of activities to suit an age range of 12 -1 8 years across different sessions . You will need to have drive and motivation and be passionate about making a difference within the community. The ability to communicate constructively and effectively and to understand the issues facing young people is essential. You will be a creative self-starter, with the ability to work independently, identify new opportunities and respond to them accordingly. With the support of the part-time Centre Manager, this role provides a great opportunity for personal growth and development as a key part of this flag-ship project.
3 year fixed term contract, (starting Sept 2010) with the possibility of extending the contract and / or increasing the hours, depending on funding.
